Articles in Press
ASN Articles in Press are final versions of accepted articles, published online before they are published in the print issue of the ASN journal to which they were submitted. Articles in Press are published online rapidly upon acceptance, giving authors and readers immediate access to the newest research. The articles incorporate author proof corrections but are not paginated and may be different in other respects from the final published version.

ASN Articles in Press are citable and searchable. The publication date appears on each article, above the title, followed by the article's unique Digital Object Identifier (DOI). When citing these articles, please use the DOI because there is no pagination for these articles.

Example of Reference to Article in Press:
Bodnar LM, Krohn MA, Simhan HN. Maternal vitamin D deficiency is associated with bacterial vaginosis in the first trimester of pregnancy. J Nutr. 2009. doi:10.3945/jn.108.103168

It is essential that author and title information appears correctly in these articles, and it is the author’s responsibility to ensure this. This information will be posted to Medline and will be identified by the article’s DOI number.

Adding DOIs to References
ASN encourages authors to include the DOI numbers of referenced articles that have DOIs to manuscripts submitted to The Journal of Nutrition and The American Journal of Clinical Nutrition. The information should be included immediately after the reference in the reference list.

Example of DOI added to Reference:
Bodnar LM, Krohn MA, Simhan HN. Maternal vitamin D deficiency is associated with bacterial vaginosis in the first trimester of pregnancy. J Nutr. 2009;139:1157-61. doi:10.3945/jn.108.103168
