Pantothenic Acid Deficiency and Conjugation Reactions in Vivo

II. The Effect of Riboflavin and Pyridoxine Deficiencies on the Acetylation of Sulfanilamide1

Maurice E. Shils, Sarah Abramowitz and Martin Sass

School of Public Health, Columbia University, New York, N. Y.

1. Studies have been made of the ability of rats deprived separately of riboflavin and of pyridoxine to acetylate sulfanilamide. These deficiencies per se caused little or no significant decrease in acetylation, in contrast to the marked decrease found in pantothenic acid deficiency.
