Sixteen amino acids were determined by microbiological assay in globulins isolated from filbert nuts. A sample of vitamin-free casein was analyzed and the results compared with values reported in the literature in order to judge the accuracy of these determinations.
The microbiological results were confirmed by growth experiments; namely, that these globulins are critically low in lysine and methionine.
