1. Blood plasma ascorbic acid values obtained by a survey of345 college women showed the freshmen to have a mean value of0.67 mg. % which was significantly lower than the mean valueof 0.84 mg. % of the upper-classmen.
2. The values obtainedin this survey agree well both in meansand distribution withfindings of other workers using comparablemethods of analysisfor similar populations differing in locality.
3. Correlationbased on a linear relationship of estimated dietaryintake ofascorbic acid to blood plasma levels was limited andsuggestedthat (a) such procedure in estimating dietaries isunsatisfactoryand/or (b) other factors operate in this relationship.
