1. A diet and supplements suitable for pyridoxine assay by meansof growth of the rat have been described.
2. Tests showedthat the supplement selected, consisting entirelyof pure vitaminsexcept for biotin, was adequate for the purpose.
3. Symptomsof the rats are shown to be specific for pyridoxinedeficiency, the tail lesions being somewhat unique.
4. The dose responsecurves for males and for females are foundto be linear fromdoses of 1 µg. to 8 µg. when thelogarithm of thedose is plotted against the response expressedas gain in weightin 4 weeks; the slope of the curve for femalesis slightly lessthan that for males.
5. Details of the arrangement of theassay and a method of analysisof results to find potency anderror are suggested.
