1. The growth response of rats fed a thiamine-free diet in whichautoclaved yeast provided other members of the vitamin B complexwas not significantly improved by supplements of pantothenicacid, pyridoxine, and choline in addition to thiamine.
2.Rats used for a 3-week test period may be redepleted of thiaminestores and used for a second test, thus saving time and money.
3. The thiamine values of a food (rice polish) determinedbythe growth response of rats after both a first and a seconddepletion of thiamine stores were the same, whether or not thediet was supplemented with pantothenic acid, pyridoxine, andcholine.
