The chronic feeding of small amounts (0.33% of diet weight) of certain amino derivatives of caproate resulted in hyperglycemia, an elevated glucose tolerance curve and, occasionally, glucosuria. Effective compounds included norleucine, norvaline, glutamate,
-aminocaproate, methionine, and leucine.
